Inter Milan vs Lazio
Inter Milan will aim to heap more pressure on Napoli for the top spot in the Serie A table when they host Lazio at San Siro on Sunday evening. As of this writing, Inter Milan, AC Milan, and AS Roma are all level at 21 points, which is only one point adrift of top-seeded Napoli.
After losing 3-1 against Napoli a few weeks ago, Cristian Chivu’s men returned to winning ways, beating Fiorentina (3-0), Hellas Verona (2-1), and Kairat (2-1) in the Champions League. Besides beating Lazio, the Nerazzurri are also hoping that their fellow Scudetto contenders will drop points from their respective matches.
However, defeating Lazio is far easier said than done, as the Biancocelesti look rejuvenated by the return of Maurizio Sarri. The visitors are undefeated in their last six games and had a full week to prepare against Inter Milan.

Talking Points
Inter Milan’s weapons are firing
Inter Milan are among the best teams in Italy right now because they boast the league’s most prolific offence with 24 goals, and five different players have at least two goals so far. Overall, 11 of Cristian Chivu’s players have opened their scoring accounts this term.
Hakan Calhanoglu is the frontrunner of the Capocannoniere race with five goals, already tying his Serie A goal tally from last season, including a brace in the Nerazzurri’s previous home game against Fiorentina. The set-piece specialist came off the bench against Kairat alongside Francesco Acerbi and Alessandro Bastoni, and all of them could be recalled in the starting XI this weekend.
Behind Calhanoglu are Lautaro Martinez, Ange-Yoan Bonny, and Marcus Thuram, with three goals each, while Federico Dimarco also has two goals. Nicolo Barella is Inter Milan’s top playmaker with three assists.
Martinez is also another weapon to look out for if you’re Lazio, as the Argentine striker will aim to end a rare four-game drought against them in the top-flight. He already has six career goals against the Biancocelesti.
Moreover, with Thuram’s recent on-pitch return, Inter Milan’s notable absentees are only Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Matteo Darmian.
Lazio’s defence has tightened up despite lineup blows

Lazio rose to eighth in the table because their defence has picked up, which is unusual for a Maurizio Sarri-coached squad. Since their 3-3 draw against Torino, Biancocelesti have recorded four straight clean sheets against Atalanta (0-0), Juventus (1-0), Pisa (0-0), and Cagliari (2-0).
They are doing this despite missing a handful of key players, which is quite impressive. However, the bad news for Sarri is that this will continue to be the case against Inter Milan on Sunday evening.
Alessio Romagnoli is the Biancocelesti’s latest casualty, as he left the game against Cagliari during halftime due to a knock. The veteran centre-back will join Nicolo Rovella, Taty Castellanos, Matteo Cancellieri, Samuel Gigot, Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, and Nuno Tavares on the sidelines.
History
Inter Milan and Lazio faced off three times last season. The Nerazzurri won 6-0 last December 2024 at Stadio Olimpico, with six different players finding the net. They also won 2-0 in February 2025 during the Coppa Italia quarter-final, before losing to AC Milan in the semi-final. However, in the reverse league fixture at San Siro last May, Lazio held Inter Milan to a 2-2 draw, courtesy of Pedro’s brace, including his stoppage-time penalty.
Lazio’s last win over Inter Milan was a 3-1 result in August 2022. They haven’t beaten the Nerazzurri in their last seven matches across all competitions, including six straight on the road.
As mentioned, Maurizio Sarri is back for a second stint at Lazio after he resigned in March 2024, replacing Marco Baroni. In his previous tenure, the Biancocelesti finished seventh in 2023-24 and second in 2022-23.
Betting Tip
The Serie A 2025 odds are lopsided in favour of the hosts this Sunday evening. Inter Milan are 1.32 favourites to win, while Lazio are huge 7.60 underdogs, and a draw is at 4.60 in the 1X2 market. Perhaps the Nerazzurri’s purple patch is hard to ignore.
With an abundance of talented attackers to choose from, Inter Milan should have enough to see this through against a steadier Lazio side. Of course, there will be new Serie A 2025 highlights from this fixture, making Over 2.50 at 1.70, Over 2.75 at 1.91, and Total Goals 2-3 at 2.05 worth considering to add to the parlay. Furthermore, a Correct Score of 2-2 – the result of their previous league meeting – is on offer at a staggering 24.00 your bet.
