The summer transfer window is well and truly open and we’re heading for two and a half months of wheeling and dealing, rumours escalating and some big money moves in the Premier League.
Here at SBOTOP we’ll bring you the latest news as it drops, and the first big move to be made has happened up in Manchester, where United have agreed to sign Wolverhampton Wanderers’ striker Matheus Cunha in a marquee deal to get the ball rolling. The Brazilian scored 33 goals in 92 appearances during his time at Molineux and his goals were a big reason the All Golds pulled away from danger last season, and Wolves boss Vitor Pereira will surely dip in the market to bolster his squad.
There could well be some players at the three relegated teams, Leicester City, Ipswich Town and Southampton hoping for a move and that could be a market for the likes of Wolves and the three promoted teams. But elsewhere there are other players who I believe would benefit from a move, though they will likely be out of reach for the teams in the bottom half of the table.
Jack Grealish: Manchester City
Pep Guardiola’s City had a washout of a season last term, finishing third in the Premier League, losing the FA Cup final to Crystal Palace and they crashed out of the Champions League in a play-off against Real Madrid, before the Round of 16 had even started. But while this is a period of transition for the Sky Blues, with big players moving out and young stars finding their way, 29 year old Jack Grealish, who is arguably at the peak of his powers has failed to make an impact. His £100m signing from Aston Villa in 2021 has weighed heavily on his shoulders and the mercurial attacking midfielder has been a squad player for much of his time in Manchester, scoring just 12 goals in 94 appearances. He has fallen down the pecking order for England too, and I’d say Grealish really needs a move to get back to his best…while there is still time.
Joao Pedro: Brighton and Hove Albion

Since his £30m move from Watford in 2023, Brazil star Pedro has rarely been out of the Premier League 2025 news, but not always for the right reasons. He has played some scintillating football on the pitch, scoring 19 goals in 58 games and Pedro’s form brought the Seagulls close to winning European football. But his disciplinary problems were a distraction in the run-in and I suspect the 23 year old may well be on his way out of the South Coast club. In April he copped for a three match ban for violent conduct during a 4-2 loss to Brentford and then Pedro was left out of Brighton’s final two match-day squads after a training ground spat with Jan Paul van Hecke, and that altercation seems to have burnt Pedro’s bridges with the Seagulls.
Federico Chiesa: Liverpool
The Premier League 2025 betting odds will likely predict a contest dominated by champions Liverpool and the deposed kings of the top flight, Manchester City. Arne Slot’s side were clearly the best side last term as Egyptian King Mo Salah fired Liverpool to the Premier League title and the Reds’ front line was a handful for any team, with Luis Diaz and Cody Gakpo often playing alongside Salah, and Darwin Nunez and Diogo Jota waiting in the wings. It may be that Nunez could move out to increase his chances of game time but Azzurri star Chiesa has barely featured during the campaign.
The 27 year old starred at Fiorentina and Juventus, mainly as a winger, and he has over 50 appearances for Italy; but his career at Anfield, following his arrival last summer, has stalled badly. Chiesa scored his first goal for Liverpool in an FA Cup tie against Accrington Stanley in January and he made his fifth Premier League appearance in May in a loss to Chelsea. That tally entitled him to a league winners’ medal, only the second Italian to be a Premier League champion, after Manchester City’s Mario Balotelli who picked his medal up in 2012, but I think Chiesa will be looking for another club right now.
Mohammed Kudus: West Ham United
Graham Potter’s arrival at West Ham as manager has not exactly set the world alight and the former Brighton and Chelsea boss is under pressure to perform after the Hammers stumbled to a 14th placed finish last term. Players including Aaron Cresswell, Vladimir Coufal and Danny Ings are all out of contract and on their way out of the club and Ghanaian winger Kudus could well follow the experienced trio out of the door. At 24 years of age Kudus is at an earlier stage of his career and he would command a big fee, valued at £70m by the Hammers.
He has already turned down a move to the Saudi Pro League and the winger has said he wants to challenge himself at the highest level. So with West Ham seemingly willing to sell Kudus, a number of top clubs are on alert.
